Section VIII Cross-Country Sportsmanship Award
At the New York State Cross-Country Championship, one male and
one female athlete from each section will be recognized for the sportsmanship award.
We will use the following criteria for Section VIII Cross-Country:
- Must be an athlete that qualified for the NYS Championship as an individual or as a member of their team.
- Must represent the qualities of good sportsmanship, fair play, acts as a role model for their team, school, and community.
- Must be someone that other coaches and/or athletes could identify as someone who exhibits some or all of these qualities.
- Running Ability: Other than qualifying for the state championship, there are no criteria on this behalf. Being a 16:00 versus a 22:00 minute runner should have no bearing on your nomination.
Any coach that would like to nominate their athlete please notify Neal Levy levyn@northshoreschools.org (Girls Recipients) and Adam McKenzie (Boys Recipients) amckenzie@greakneck.k12.ny.us with their name, school and the reason for the nomination.
Katie Dunne-Farmingdale will chair the committee, for the final selection.
DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29th. The names of the award winners must be submitted to the state by the State Qualifier (November 1st), so the deadline must be adhered to, to be considered for the award.
